We could ask you to judge The Surveying Academy from a sales pitch or a short demo.

We would rather let you see it in practice.

Put one graduate or apprentice through it for six months alongside their real work. See what they learn, what they apply and whether your senior surveyors notice a difference in the practical foundations they normally have to teach.

Then decide whether The Surveying Academy has value for your firm.

That is why we're opening 30 free six-month places to eligible UK building surveying firms.

"The information in there is comprehensive and 'reassuring'… It serves as a useful reminder at any stage during the journey and can be referred back to at any time."
Sonya Swaley, RICS Apprentice of the Year 2025
"I did not find anything too basic or too challenging. I found that the information offered by the Surveying Academy is a beneficial supplementary, providing both important and new information that can benefit an early-career surveyor in an office environment and on site."
Charlie Marsay, placement student, Bradley-Mason LLP
"…has helped me at this current stage of my career. I believe it will give new apprentices/graduates a head start when they first start the company."

Why it works alongside your team

We teach the repeatable part.
Your seniors teach the rest.

The Surveying Academy

Repeatable foundations

The things every firm explains to every new starter: a professional email, a useful set of site photos, clear minutes, taking initiative. Taught once, properly, the same way for every intake.

Your experienced surveyors

Judgement, context and experience

Technical nuance, complex decisions, how your firm works and what your clients expect. Less time on the basics leaves more time for this.

Designed to complement your firm's own training, mentoring and APC support, not replace them.

Practical training, not theory

What this actually looks like

Three things that happen in practice, again and again, set against what good looks like. The Surveying Academy gives graduates and apprentices the tools to get from one to the other quicker.

Which property?

Afternoon,

I atended site this morning to look at the leak. There appears to be water coming through around the roof and there were a few areas that looked quite wet.

Where exactly? Photos?

I think it might be the flashing, although the gutters were also quite full. I've attached some photos form site.

Fact, not assumption.

Let me know what you would like us to do next.

Thanks,
Sam

DRAFT: 24117, 14 Elm Road, Roof leak inspection findings
4 photos attached

Hi Sarah,

Purpose

I'm writing to confirm the findings of this morning's inspection of the roof leak at 14 Elm Road.

Detail

Water is entering at the rear valley gutter above bedroom 2. The gutter is blocked with debris and overflowing during rainfall. Photos 1 to 4 are attached.

Action

We recommend clearing the valley gutter and re-inspecting after the next period of heavy rain. Please confirm by Friday whether you'd like us to arrange this.

Kind regards,
Sam

That's the fourth email back and forth with the contractor about the snagging list. They're still not having it. What should I do?
09:14
Have you tried calling them?
They've found rot in two more joists than expected. Repair or replace? What should I do?
11:02
What do you recommend, and why?
Client hasn't replied to my email from Tuesday. Should I chase?
15:37
Your call. Tell me what you decide.
Bring me options, not just questions.

The contractor still wasn't accepting the snagging list by email, so I called them. They hadn't seen the revised drawings. Sorted: they're back on site Thursday. Heads up in case their director calls you.
09:14
They've found rot in two more joists than expected. I'd replace those two and repair the rest. The cost is similar and it avoids another visit. I'll confirm with the client this afternoon unless you'd prefer otherwise.
11:02
Client hadn't replied since Tuesday, so I phoned them. They'll confirm by Friday. I've noted it on the file.

Same situations. Sam has acted, made a recommendation and kept their senior informed.
