2. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms & Conditions govern access to and use of The Surveying Academy website and the purchase and use of any Courses provided through the platform.
By accessing the website or purchasing or using Courses, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the website or purchase Courses.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will apply from the date they are published on the website.
3. Definitions
Courses
Training modules, materials, videos, quizzes, and related educational content provided through The Surveying Academy platform.
Content
All course materials including text, diagrams, images, illustrations, videos, frameworks, assessments, and course structures.
User / Learner
An individual granted access to Courses.
Organisation
A company purchasing licences for employees.
4. Educational Purpose
Courses are provided for general educational purposes only and are designed to support supervised professional development in building surveying practice.
Courses:

do not replace professional judgement
-
do not replace firm procedures or governance
-
do not constitute legal or contractual advice
-
do not guarantee competence
-
do not authorise independent practice
-
do not imply endorsement by RICS or any regulatory body
Learners remain responsible for applying professional judgement and complying with current legislation, standards, and professional guidance.
The Surveying Academy provides educational materials intended to support professional development.
We do not guarantee:
-
successful completion of professional assessments or APC
-
improvement in professional performance
-
achievement of specific career outcomes
-
attainment of professional competence
Professional competence develops through supervised experience, professional judgement, and responsibility over time.
5. Course Licence Model
Course access is provided on a named-user licence basis.
Each licence is:
-
personal
-
non-transferable
-
assigned to a specific individual
-
valid only for the purchased access period
Where Courses are purchased by an Organisation, each licence must be assigned to a specific employee.
Licences must not be shared, transferred, reassigned, or used by multiple individuals.
6. Seat Allocation & Employee Departure
Licences are non-transferable and cannot be reassigned once issued.
This includes circumstances where:

an employee leaves the organisation
-
an employee changes role
-
an organisation wishes to substitute another learner
If a learner leaves the organisation during the licence period:
-
the licence cannot be transferred
-
no refunds or credits will be issued
Organisations may request suspension of access for departing employees.
7. Organisational Responsibility
Where licences are purchased by an Organisation, the Organisation is responsible for ensuring that all access to Course Content complies with these Terms.
The Organisation must ensure that:
-
each individual accessing Course Content holds a valid individual licence
-
licences are not shared between multiple individuals
-
login credentials are not distributed internally
-
Course Content is not accessed by unlicensed staff
The Organisation is responsible for ensuring that employees, contractors, or representatives comply with these Terms.
8. Unauthorised Access
Where Course Content is accessed by individuals who do not hold a valid licence, The Surveying Academy reserves the right to require the Organisation to purchase licences for all individuals who accessed or viewed the Content.
This may include retrospective licence charges based on the number of individuals who accessed or viewed the material.
Access may also be suspended or terminated where misuse is identified.
9. Course Access Period
Unless stated otherwise, Course access is provided for 12 months and 7 days from the date the learner is enrolled on the platform or first granted access.
The additional 7-day period allows learners to complete courses and, where applicable, purchase access extensions.
Access will expire automatically at the end of the access period unless an extension or new licence is purchased.
10. Course Progress & Data Retention
Learner progress, quiz results, and certificates are stored within the platform for the duration of the licence period.
The Surveying Academy does not guarantee retention of learner data after licence expiry. Learners are responsible for downloading certificates before their licence expires.
Following licence expiry, learner accounts, progress records, and certificates may be archived, deleted, or reset without notice.
Extensions or licence renewals may be purchased before the licence expires or during the 7-day grace period, subject to availability.
11. Fees & Payments
Course access is subject to payment of applicable Fees.
All Fees are stated in GBP and are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated. VAT will be added at the applicable rate at checkout.
Payments are processed through approved payment providers such as Stripe.
Failure to make payment may result in suspension or restriction of access.
12. Refund Policy
Once access to a Course has been granted, Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
Refunds will not be provided where:

a learner leaves their employer
-
an organisation wishes to substitute another learner
-
a learner chooses not to complete the course
13. Intellectual Property
All Content provided through The Surveying Academy platform remains the intellectual property of Redstone Education Limited.
This includes but is not limited to:
-
course materials
-
diagrams and illustrations
-
text and images
-
frameworks and methodologies
-
course structures and sequencing
-
assessments and quizzes
-
platform organisation
No Content may be copied, reproduced, distributed, modified, adapted, or reused without prior written permission.
14. Prohibited Use of Course Content
Users must not:
-
copy or reproduce course materials
-
download diagrams, slides, or visual assets for redistribution
-
print materials for internal training or distribution
-
reproduce course content within internal training programmes
-
distribute course materials outside the platform
Users must also not:
-
screen record course content
-
capture screenshots for redistribution
-
extract diagrams or images from the platform
-
upload course content to external learning platforms, AI tools, or automated systems
15. Content Misuse & Public Distribution
If Course Content is shared, distributed, published, or made publicly available without permission, The Surveying Academy reserves the right to:
-
immediately suspend or terminate access to the platform
-
revoke any active licences without refund
-
require removal of the content from any platform or publication
-
pursue recovery of licence fees for unauthorised distribution
This includes but is not limited to situations where Course Content is shared through:
-
social media platforms
-
public websites or online forums
-
video platforms or recordings
-
internal company training platforms
-
artificial intelligence or automated systems
16. Group Viewing & Internal Training
Course licences permit access by one individual learner only.
Course Content must not be used for group training sessions, workshops, presentations, internal training programmes, or shared viewing unless a licence has been purchased for each participant.
This includes, but is not limited to:
-
projecting course materials in meeting rooms
-
screen-sharing during meetings or video calls
-
distributing materials to multiple employees
Each individual accessing or viewing Course Content must hold their own valid licence.
17. Account Security
Users must not:
-
share login credentials
-
allow colleagues to access the platform using their account
-
allow group viewing of courses under a single licence
18. Monitoring & Audit Rights
The Surveying Academy reserves the right to monitor platform usage and audit licence usage where misuse is suspected.
Monitoring may include:
-
login activity
-
access patterns
-
licence allocation reviews
19. Enforcement
If misuse is identified, The Surveying Academy may:
-
suspend or terminate access immediately
-
cancel licences without refund
-
charge additional licence fees for unauthorised users
-
apply retrospective charges for unlicensed access
-
restrict future access to the platform
Serious misuse may result in legal action.
20. Certificates
Certificates issued by The Surveying Academy confirm course completion only.
Certificates:
-
do not confer professional qualification
-
do not confirm professional competence
-
do not replace APC or professional supervision
21. Platform Availability
We aim to keep the platform available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
The Surveying Academy platform may be delivered using third-party learning technology providers. While reasonable steps are taken to ensure reliability, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to third-party systems or services.
We may update, modify, or improve Courses or platform functionality from time to time.
The Surveying Academy may also update, amend, or replace course materials to reflect changes in professional practice, legislation, standards, or best practice.
22. Limitation of Liability
Courses are provided for general educational purposes only.
Redstone Education Limited accepts no liability for:

project decisions
-
financial loss
-
contractual disputes
-
professional negligence claims
-
indirect or consequential loss
arising from reliance on course material without appropriate supervision and professional judgement.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where prohibited by law.
23. Data Protection
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR.
Personal data may be used to:

administer accounts
-
deliver Courses
-
provide support
-
manage billing
-
improve our services
24. International Access
Courses are designed primarily for building surveying practice within the United Kingdom.
While the platform may be accessed internationally, The Surveying Academy does not guarantee that course materials reflect legislation, regulations, or professional standards outside the United Kingdom.
Users accessing the platform from outside the UK are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable local laws or professional requirements.
25. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
